Marc was a member of the 4 Dimensions at Tulsa’s Bell Junior-High back in the early sixties. Later he played with bands in Tulsa and in Kansas before Uncle Sam nudged him toward a ‘boat-ride’. Turned out he did two tours in Vietnam north of the DMZ aboard an attack aircraft carrier, the USS Ranger. After that not-so-pleasurable pleasure cruise, he made it home and started playing jazz with such local notables as Gayle Williamson, Mike Bruce and Tommy Lokey. In the 1980s, “Urban Cowboy” brought the onslaught of 2-steppin’ Country music to places like Duke’s Country east of 129th and Admiral. Marc found himself drumming to Country songs by George Strait as well as jazz gigs with songs by George Gershwin.
But having ‘cut his teeth’ on Rock-n-Roll, the late 90’s presented him an opportunity to back up a newly formed classic rock band known as Mid-Life Crisis. Marc jumped at the chance of doing drums and vocals with the band for 7 years. He laid out a couple years after a bit of surgery but the band gave him a call and he’s now back this time on percussion and vocals. “It’s a labor of love”, he says, “keeping the old stuff alive. But it’s worth it when you see the smiles on the faces of dancers who are dancing to memories…lots of ‘em!”
